Hood Lock Cable

The hood lock cable is non-adjustable. The only repair is replacement. Fig. 6-21 shows the cable routing and attachment points. To remove the cable, it is necessary to remove the front grille as described in Removing Front Body Parts and Grille. Separate the cable from the release lever under the radiator support, and pull the cable housing from its retaining clips.

Remove the screws holding the release handle to the body inside the passenger compartment and pull the cable through the firewall. Check that the firewall grommet is correctly seated when installing the new cable for an air-tight seal.
