Selector Lever Cable

To replace:
1. Place the selector lever in P. If the cable is broken, select park by hand-moving the operating lever on the transaxle all the way to the left.
2. Remove the knob on the top of the selector lever by removing the set screw, and then pry off the indicator plate. Remove the selector cable from the lever by prying off the E-clip.
3. Working beneath the vehicle, remove the screws holding the selector support to the body and lower the support. Pull back the rubber boot covering the selector cable and loosen and remove the cable conduit nut so the conduit is free from the support.
4. Working in the engine compartment on the transmission end of the cable, loosen the nut on the clamping sleeve, then loosen and remove the cable from the transmission bracket. Pull the cable through to the engine compartment.
5. Installation of the cable is the reverse of removal. Torque the selector support mounting bolts to 23 Nm (17 ft. lb.). Make sure the selector cable is routed correctly around the speedometer cable, or it may bind and jam the lever. See Fig. 4-3.

6. Adjust the cable as described below in 4.2 External Transmission Adjustments.
