4.2 External Transmission Adjustments

External adjustments to the automatic transmission include adjustments of the control cables, the automatic shift lock solenoid, and the 2nd gear brake band. These external adjustments may correct imprecise shifting without the need for removal of the transaxle or costly overhaul work.

The cables should be adjusted any time a cable is installed. A helper will be required to hold the accelerator pedal at full throttle while adjustments are made.
