7.1 Transmission Disassembly and Assembly

Before beginning work on the transmission, thoroughly clean the outside of the transmission case to prevent dirt from contaminating the interior components as you remove them. Drain the transaxle oil and mount the transmission vertically in a secure stand, supporting the main shaft as shown in Fig. 7-2 to prevent damage to the gear train. Remove the clutch pushrod.
