7.2 Parking Brake (Disc Brakes)

The parking brake operates only on the rear wheels. It is mechanically actuated, and is independent of the hydraulic brake system. Fig. 6-7 above is a cut-away view of the parking brake lever assembly. The lever operates two separate, replaceable cables connected to the rear brake calipers. When the lever is pulled, the actuating lever on the caliper applies pressure to the brake caliper piston.
