Master Cylinder, Vacuum Booster, and Brake LinesThe master cylinder has two separate chambers for two separate hydraulic circuits. The front chamber operates the brakes on the right front and left rear wheels, while the rear chamber operates the brakes on the left front and right rear wheels. In the event of a loss of pressure in one circuit, the other will still supply approximately half of the normal braking force. The vacuum booster uses engine vacuum to assist braking effort. The rigid brake lines transmit hydraulic pressure to the wheels and resist expansion and pressure loss. Flexible hoses between the rigid lines and the brakes accommodate wheel movement due to steering and suspension action. |
