Main Fuel Filter (gasoline)Because of varying quality of available gasoline, the fuel filter may become clogged enough during normal operation to restrict fuel flow. To prevent any such problems, and to guarantee continued good performance, the filter should be replaced at the specified interval. The man fuel filter is located beneath the car, just in front of the fuel tank as shown in Fig 5-5.

When replacing the fuel filter, disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal and clamp the filter inlet and outlet hoses to lessen fuel spillage. Use new hose clamps. On cars where the inlet and outlet hoses are attached with banjo fittings, torque the inlet fitting to 25 Nm (18 ft. lb.) and the outlet fitting to 20 Nm (15 ft. lb.).
