6.8 Spare Parts Kit
Carrying a basic set of spare parts with you in your car can prevent a minor breakdown from turning into a major annoyance. Many of the following items won't allow you to do major repair work on the car, but they will help in the event of the failure of something which can disable the car or compromise its safety.
Spare Parts Kit - Basic Contents:
| 1. | V-belt(s) for the alternator and/or water pump (on some models there is one belt, on others two separate belts) |
| 2. | one or two quarts of engine oil |
| 3. | a gallon container of engine coolant (pre-mixed antifreeze and water) |
| 5. | a new, unopened bottle of brake fluid |
| 6. | 10 amp, 15 amp, and 20 amp fuses |
| 7. | upper and lower radiator hoses |
Spare Parts Kit - Additional Contents:
| 1. | replacement headlight (sealed beam or bulb) |
| 2. | brake light, turn signal light, and tail light bulbs |
| 3. | other relays such as headlight, turn signal, or load reduction |
| 5. | distributor cap and rotor |
