Test Light
A test light, shown in Fig. 4-13, is a simple tool used to check electrical circuits for voltage or continuity to ground when actual voltage values are unimportant. A bulb in the handle will light whenever current is flowing through the circuit. The use of a test light is described in 3.2 General Advice For The Beginner.

CAUTION-
Electrical tests of the ignition, fuel injection, and emission control electronics may be damaged by a test light with a normal incandescent bulb. For these applications, use a high input impedence tester such as Volkswagen special tool no. US 1115 (order no. TU1 115 000 28 ZEL), or build one as described in 3.2 General Advice For The Beginner under Making An LED Test Light.
