Emission ControlsDiesel engines are equipped with a closed, Positive Crank-case Ventilation (PCV) system to keep harmful emissions from entering the atmosphere. Crankcase emissions are vented through a PCV valve on the cylinder head cover back into the air intake. ECO turbo diesel engines also have a catalytic converter in the exhaust system to further reduce harmful emissions. See EXHAUST AND EMISSION CONTROLS for more information. Because of the low volatility of diesel fuel, evaporative emission controls like those found on cars with gasoline engines are not required. |
