5. Doors

The rear half of each door hinge is welded to the door, and the front half is welded to the car body. The only adjustment point of the door hinge is the center mounting bolt. When removing a door, mark the hinge halves so that the door can be reinstalled in its original position.

To remove a door, push the door check bolt from its lock washer. Use an impact driver to loosen the hinge bolts. Support the door, then remove the bolts and the door. On models with electric mirrors, or central locking system, the mirrors must be removed as described in 5.3 Side Mirrors to remove the wiring from the door, and the vacuum hose and wiring must be removed from the lock actuator as described in 5.2 Central Locking System.

CAUTION-

If the door is not supported when the first bolt is removed, the second hinge may bend or break.

Install the door using the marks made prior to removal. If a replacement door is being installed, it should contact the weather seal evenly and the lock should work smoothly. Set the hinge bolts with an impact driver.
