Installing or Replacing Seat Belts
Install all seat belt mounting bolts to the correct torque. Fig. 4-25 through Fig. 4-36 show the anchoring points for the various models covered by this manual, with the correct torques.
WARNING-
For maximum protection from injury, do not interchange buckle and retractor assemblies with those designated for other seating positions or other models.

NOTE-
A kit to retrofit 3-point rear seat belts on 1985 to 1987 Golf and GTI models, Part No. 176 898 800, is available from an authorized Volkswagen parts dealer. The kit contains the mounting hardware necessary to install the upper anchor point behind the C-pillar trim.
